In December 2015 we went to Fouta to visit my husbands family. Fouta is the name of the land where Fulani people live. Traditionally the Fulani people were nomadic. So the African continent is home to many groups of Fulani people. We went to Agnam Thioday, Senegal. It is a small town on the main highway. There is a market square where vendors sell fresh produce, household items, jewelry and my favourite... FABRIC!
I have always been a fabric lover so you can imaging my excitement when I went to the local market and saw this... Usually you go to the market to see what beautiful things you can buy but here I think I was more excited to see what everyone was wearing and the fabric combinations that happened spontaniously from women sitting together or walking past one another. It was like a mixing paint pallet that never went brown and muddy. Such a vibrant place, I think i'm in love! This is where we began our journey creating African Fabrics Australia.
